Finally got to watch episode 3, which I enjoyed quite a bit more than the first two, though I was surprised the story turned out to be quite a small personal one.

Its a bit worrying it all ended up the same as the first episode with one of the team going a bit looney, and Jack deciding that the technology they had been using was too dangerous for us humans.

Next weeks looks interesting as its the biggest tie in to Doctor Who continuity yet.

Much like Robin Hood, its something Im watching when I want something on, but not so in the mood Id want to watch something top like Lost.

Wow LOVED thaat one. Episode 3 was good but episode 4 is absolutely brilliant. My favourite so far. Jack is certainly a lot darker in this. Guess that's not surprising with him being left behind on Satellite 5 by his friends.

I watched MOTD2 last night. I'll be watching it on Wednesday but this is probably me giving the programme it's last chance. If I think it's rubbish this week I wont be bothering again.

We may have seen more of Jack's dark side, but we got the usual display of Gwen's dork side. Cardiff's answer to Rose Tyler she ain't, but she has that slack-jawed fish out of water look down pat. Toshiko didn't exactly cover herself with glory either, taking ages to even start unlocking the second door (with the device she used to transfer hard copy to a computer in the first ep?). If the two of them hadn't faffed around so much, the Pizza girl might still be alive. But that's no biggie, I guess, since Ianto didn't get so much as a slap on the wrist for causing two, arguably three, deaths by deceiving the team.

As Borat would say, niiiice!!

I only half-watched this episode, and possibly as a result of that I only half-enjoyed it (or possibly it's cos it wasn't that good... I couldn't really say...) I did see a lot more of Gwen being annoying and crap (god-dammit, kill her off already!)... I think I saw some of Jack being cool and badass... And I'm pretty sure I saw some of the rest of the team acting as irresponsibly as only they seem to know how... I think I quite liked the Doctor Who tie-in factor...

But I can't be positive on any of this, as I said I was only half-watching...

Personally I was enjoying the violent effects you wouldn't find on the TARDIS...

And is it just me or is the sound effect used for Lisa walking around nicked straight from Robocop?

Another very unsubtle episode, clunky dialogue, and the cracks really show when you dont have the 'romp' factor that Dr Who has that allows it to get away with the silliness.

I do give them credit for the sequence where the pterodactly attacks the cyberwoman, dont see that very often!

There's a certain jarring discrepancy between an organisation founded in Victoriam times, and five yahoos (well, four yahoos and Ianto now) yomping about in an old underground station (anyone remember the 'Double Deckers'?). Torchwood might be 'outside the government and beyond the police', but with it's operatives pilfering technology freely, and at least two of them (Suzie and Ianto) harbouring big scary secrets, there must be somebody keeping tabs on things (and handing out paychecks?). That possiblity is really the best chance of a gripping plotline arising in the future. I mean, this can't be all there is, can it? Cardiff's base is Torchwood Three, after all.

No thoughts about this week's episode, then? I actually thought it was quite a bit better than previous eps, although the whole Jack being older than he looks thing is going to need nn explanation soon (is it time travel, or a 'Highlander' style thing?). The fact that I've always had a thing about fairies (or Faeries) since reading the Many-coloured Land' series, helps of course. It certainly was another dark tale, in conclusion, and you have to feel for the girl's mother

Incidentally, this week's 'Firefly' was excellent. Reminds me of how some 'Buffy' eps were rather tame, and then a corker would come along. Maybe I just got unlucky with a few episodes. Not to give too much away, this is the one where we get some very instructive flashbacks, á la BattleStar Galactica, about the various crew members, and it's repeated again Sunday evening on Sci-Fi/Sci-Fi+.
