I have it on sky+ ready to watch at some point over the weekend. Looks interesting.
A town called Eureka
Only 3 weeks after the series started to air in the US, Eureka has made it to the UK. Which, all considering, is amazingly quick. But is this a good or a bad thing? It's been a while since we had some decent new Sci-fi related tv shows pop up and the ones that did show a lot of potential got canned about as quickly as they had started. So will Eureka be any different?
With the amount of advertising that has been going on for this new series I'm presuming that most of you will already know what the series is about, but for those who have spend their holiday not stuck behind the TV or simply don't have Sky here's a small intro:
The series opens with a double length episode (or 1 & 2 put together really) which very slowly emerges us into the mysterious world of Eureka. If you have no idea what the series is about and haven't seen any of the adverts this slow pace might really turn you off as it feels really stretched until we finally get to "something" slightly interesting which you can make sense off. But once you are through the first 45 minutes the puzzle starts to fall together and the potential that this show has becomes very obvious.
From TV.com
The sleepy Pacific Northwest town of Eureka is hiding a mysterious secret. The government has been relocating the world’s geniuses and their families to this rustic town for years where innovation and chaos have lived hand in hand. U.S. Marshal Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson) stumbles upon this odd town after wrecking his car and becoming stranded there. When the denizens of the town unleash an unknown scientific creation, Carter jumps in to try to restore order and consequently learns of one of the country’s best kept secrets.
The first two episodes really do nothing more or nothing less than let us viewers get familiar with our new surroundings and set up the scene for future episodes. Okay they might also solve a little "problem" which could potentially destroy the planet but that almost seems just to be a little side story Although this might sound very boring, it's full of little snippets of humor and great dialogue which makes it about as interesting as could be.
Overall I really liked the show and I'm really curious where they will take us next. This show really has a lot of potential and I'll be looking forward to were they will take us next I only give it a 3 out of 5 though as I have the feeling that this show can become so much better than they showed us in the first 2 episodes I wouldn't like to start rating it too high just yet

In the UK it airs on Sky one at 9pm on Wednesday I believe and in the US it airs on the scifi channel on tuesdays at 9pm
I was fairly pleased with the pilot. Didn't blow me away but definately sparked enough interest for me to be watching it again next week.
I just watched the 2-part pilot and I enjoyed it more than I expected. Most of the characters were likable or interesting, and the show doesnt seem to suffer as other american shows do when they try to balance amusing and dramatic (eg. Tremors and The Chronicle)
Only downside for me was the ever annoying Matt Frewer, what the hell was that accent, ive never heard an Australian cockney before....
