Aye, it is a sad day for all us 'oldies' who remember Top of the Pops being THE music show around.

After 42 years, it's apparently goodbye to Top of the Pops. I've never really watched the show, but as far as I'm aware, it was once the show that all the bands/artists wanted to appear on, I imagine before MTV and the like were invented.

I guess the rot has slowly been setting in since music videos took off (hard to imagine they didnt have them for many years).
In truth I think the real problem is the nature of modern music which is extremely studio produced, especially dance tracks.
This does one of two things to 'live' performances, either the band mimes, and the audience feels cheated, or the band sings and audience is disappointed with the quality.
