I was watching it on Beeb Two last night and they said they'd be showing it 5 nights a week from now on. Hopefully that will still be at the same time (just after I get in from work!)
Simpsons: Moving to Channel 5
Apparently, according to my mum BBC can no longer afford to keep The Simpsons on BBC2 and now Channel 5 have bought the rights to it.
Not sure when this comes in place because i'm sure i heard after Simpsons on Sat 16th Feb on BBC2 it said that starting from 25th feb they'll be on 5 nights a week.
Personally i'm not too sure of this move - i love coming home on a friday after a long hard week at school (well recently full of half days but you know) and coming home to watch simpsons for 45mins. It's like on a thursday i enjoy coming home to watch Buffy.
I doubt that when Channel 5 do start showing it, they will show it at these times because you have "Home and Away" another programme they recently bought at this time
I find that when a programme has moved to a different channel i end u forgetting to watch it because it's on at a diff. time etc. so currently i'm not too keen...

I hate the idea of them showing it on Channel 5...that means that it is going to split up by adverts !!
They are the scourge of the planet !!!

well, from what i've heard, they were asking for about 7 times the money for the new episodes, and the BBC just weren't willing to pay it. Shouldn't be coming into effect until 2006 though i think (i only heard this from a mate, so i could be horribly wrong) which means there will be no new episodes for BBC viewers until then surely??
Actually...
The Simpsons is moving to Channel 4. BBC 2 used to pay £100,000 a show and Channel 4 are paying around £700,000.
Channel 4 did this to price Channel 5 out of the market because they are concerned about losing viewers to another commercial station.
The deal includes all re-run rights for terrestrial tv which will probably lead to daily Simpsons on Channel 4 a la Sky.
To put this in context, that is £1.4m per hour of programming, around twice what Channel 4 are prepared to pay for original content from Independent UK TV Producers.
Is it any wonder that most UK television is rubbish?

I'm glad it's not on Channel 5, my bro wouldn't be pleased, because we can't channel 5 where we live.
