The Welsh metallers (Oooh, controversial? More on that later) are back with a forthcoming album and I was jammy enough to get my hands on a promo copy Who’s ya daddy?

For months, I had fears that the lads from Lostprophets would have gone all pop-like after spending so much time in the US. Although with the expert guidance of producer Bob Rock (known for working with the likes of Metallica and Motley Crue) this album has been made into, what I think could be this years masterpiece. They had a tall order after the success of the Platinum selling Start Something but I think they may have been able to crack this one. Don’t get me started on Ian Watkins’ new look though, I can’t decide if it’s Michael Jackson, George Michael, or both!

I’ve had it for about 5 days now, and literally, I can’t stop listening to it. Belting into the opening track Everyday Combat you can tell that this is going to be one mutha of an album. Kicking off with a heavy bassline and eventually the inevitable sing along chorus for every wannbe metaller.

With the success of Start Something I’ve been trying to figure out equivalents. For example, the ‘Last Train Home’ of Liberation Transmission so to speak, and there are a couple of candidates. Thankfully, they have remained true and there are a couple of slow ones for all you emo kids out there

Their first track from the album, Rooftops (A Liberation Broadcast), released tomorrow, strikes a chord with all the angst that people go through just by encouraging them to (and I quote) “Scream your heart out”. Something that is always gonna go down well with people really isn’t it? Lol

Standout tracks for me are Everyday Combat, The New Transmission, Can’t Catch Tomorrow (Good Shoes Won’t Save You This Time) and 4am Forever.

There is a good balance between fast paced semi-metal tracks and the melodic rock style sound that rockers alike just want to chill out to. Am I the only one that listens to metal these days when I want to relax by the way!?

It also worth noting that the bands new drummer, a virtual unknown, has pulled something pretty big out the hat. How the band found him, I have no idea, but the boy done well. I’ll say that.

Liberation Transmission is out on 26th June on Visible Noise records and available from all good retailers. You’ll want to check this out, you won’t be disappointed. Can you tell this gets pretty massive thumbs up from me?
