US rock band who just happen to be huge over there and virtually ignored over here

Their lead singer sang "Smooth", the Carlos Santana track (which he also wrote).

They are: Rob Thomas (vocals), Kyle Cook (lead guitar), Paul Doucette (drums), Brian Yale (bass), Adam Gaynor (guitar)

Tracks recommended: Push, Back2Good, Bent, You Won't Be Mine, Disease, Bright Lights, Unwell, Could I Be You

Rob has an amazing, emotional voice and if you like Counting Crows, Train, stuff like that, then give them a listen!!!

Agreed there Spikeo, a good band that dosen't have enough recognition.

One of my choices would be Trust Company. (Katie, JJ and Pof will be sick of me goin on about them).

They did a tour with Korn and Puddle of Mudd earlier in the year and I think that to be able to go on the road with that calibre of band then they must have something. They did a headlining gig at the Garage too and the peeps were there with me will testify that I loved the gig very much

Rob Thomas is an attractive specimin as far as i remember lol


Mr Scruff my favourite artist quite mellow and laid back, takes influences from all sorts of music types, but a lot is quite jazzy

A few of the bands I'm into would prolly be classed as 'chillout' but as with any genre it's a very broad spectrum and the bands are all quite different, and I'm a bit crap at trying to describe the styles!

Bent Programmed To Love (took me a while to get into it, but it generally does for me)

All tracks are good but a few to check out are:

-Exercise One (some guys talking about sound or something, and a bloke going 'I see' in a deep voice, tickles me!)
-Private Road
-Chocolate Wings (the guy singing sounds like William Shatner, maybe it is him )
-Irritating Noises

Lemon Jelly KY (absolutely love this collection of their EPs, so chilled but fairly upbeat at the same time, if that makes sense. Half their album has been on Jamie Oliver's Kitchen I discovered tonight)

-In The Bath
-His Majesty King Raam (sounds like one of them talking books, it's cool)
-Nervous Tension

Aimee Mann (she has the most gorgeous voice and provided the soundtrack to the film Magnolia)

-One
-Save Me

Groove Armada (totally love them, they do everything from chilled, to funky)

-At The River (beautiful tune)
-If Everybody Looked The Same (kinda dancy, but not too much)
-I See You Baby (a bit like house)
-Edge Hill (very end of the night, winding down tune)

Most definitely agreed with her voice, and she's a good writer too (though I was surprised to find out she doesn't look to have written One, as Filter performed it on a soundtrack a couple of years ago - I originally thought she'd written all of the songs for Magnolia )

Stabbing Westward (Alternative rock)

My fav songs would have to be "So far away" and "Breathe in you"

Think I'll comment on the bands mentioned first...

Filter - Thought 'Take A Picture' was a class tune and have it on CD somewhere...wasn't keen on the follow-up single though.

Bis - I remember 'Kandy Pop'..not one of my fave tunes though so i never checked out anything else by them.

Matchbox Twenty - Great band and severly under-rated over here...my fave tune has to one that Keeny hasn't mentioned, 'If You're Gone'

Groove Armada - At The River is a good track but I prefer 'My Friend'

My recommendations....

The Longpigs - Indie band..try 'Lost Myself', 'She Said' or 'Far'

Sea Fruit - Another Indie band..I've only heard one song but it was amazing..check out 'Hello World'

The Music - Hard to describe..sort of rocky...Try the song 'The Getaway'

The Wildhearts - Loud guitary noise and great songs. Were voted Best British Band of the Decade for the 90s. If there was a Wildhearts family tree they would connect up with The Yo-Yos, Rachel Stamp, 3 Colours Red, The Jellys, Honeycrack, Anti-Product and many others. Have been around for over 10 years, gone through countless line ups, split & reformed several times but still manage to sell out places like Brixton Academy when they do live dates. The singer Ginger is a genius and not at all a Mick Hucknall look-a-like Their best albums are "Earth Vs The Wildhearts"(not a weak track) and "PHUQ". My all time favourite band

Six by Seven - Fantastic indie/rock type band from Nottingham. Can't think of any particular songs, but their 2nd album, The Closer You Get, is one of my favourites.
