Right, I'm stepping in here with me staff hat on.
As it's been figured, some like one pub and others like the other pub. Fair enough. I'm gonna try and answer questions here in the best way possible, if it seems harsher than it sounds, then I promise it's not intended that way.
The question of: Why can't we go to O' Neills so that Wale can join in?
The answers are twofold. The fact that some people like an 'alternative' pub (as already stated and which is my personal opinion also) and the fact that it's not anyone's fault that Wale has to work that night, in that pub. It's the luck of the draw. The suggestion has been made to start at one, then go to the other already. This seems the most viable option, just please don't let it descend into "What pub do we start in?"
The statement of: I think quite a few of the London lot have an anureism at the thought of crossing the M25 never mind getting much further North.
IMO, that's out of order. A high percentage of people don't drive that go to meets. London is a central location and it doesn't get much more central than Oxford Street. If you want to organise loads of meets outwith the M25, you're more than welcome to. Although you'll find that with 'X' amount of commitments (University, Cash, time off, holidays, not to mention location, things that are a bit more higher priority), this is by far an easy case. T-Party preparations being a prime example.
It takes me just shy of an hour to get to Waterloo let alone 'crossing the M25'. You can see my point in not being keen on going much more than that. In short, Y made the point best about having to travel just to get to London. Considering a lot of people live of weeing distance on the inside of the M25 with the rest living outside it, the statement is a bit unfair.
The general argument of: 'This Pub' is better or 'That Pub' is better.
There won't be a winner of this and if it just turns into people trying to sell one pubs attributes against its 'competitor', then I'll just close this thread and let T start another. Having said that I don't think there will be a 'winner' as such, and a compromise is looking shady as well. If a compromise can't be met, then take the debate to a general discussion topic to keep it civilised rather than spoil a thread getting Xmas spirit together.
Lastly, what about I trump y'all and suggest we go to Camden!? (KIDDING!! )
