The only one on the list I actually played is HalfLife 2... That looked pretty, but wasn't that good in my opinion.

I played
- GTA:SA
- Half Life 2
- Fahrenheit
- Halo 2
- The Sims 2
Loved the first 4 (although hl2 was a bit of a disappointment) hated the last (but I also hated The Sims 1).

I played the same ones Chambler, but I quite like Sims 2 (but could never get the hang of the original, so it drove me crazy... erm... crazier )
I thought Half-Life 2 was OK but quite overrated (the iPod of the FPS genre IMHO) as was World of Warcraft (fun, but I can see it getting real old real fast), only played a demo of Fahrenheit, but it looks very cool.
One game that was oddly absent from that list was MGS3: Snake Eater - why? Snake is Da Man! Uh, men, whatever - point being the game rocks! But then I love stealth-'em-ups...

Maybe the majority of the people don't have the patience for stealth'em ups.
Personally I'm more into the Quest / Adventure kinda games (good old Space Quest / Sam & Max / Day of the Tentical) Next year there should be some interesting releases like Runaway Adventure 2. Hopefully those will keep me of the street for a little while

Anyone who likes turn-based strategy games should try out Battle for Wesnoth. (http://www.wesnoth.org/) probably the best open-source strategy game around. It actually has good graphics, and that's rare for OS games
Turn-based really isn't my gig, I prefer RT myself (C&C). Still play C&C generals zero hours a lot but kinda have to start looking out for something else to play... probably going to be another RTS game though
I love the GTA series, I just hope that the next one is set in the future or has a more cyberpunk feel to it. Sort of GTA meets Deus Ex
I loved the skill system too, you get better by practicing that skill not by practicing one skill and spending points in another one!!! - just like real life

Exactly the problem with any level-up-skill-points system... "Cool, I killed a dozen monsters and now I suddenly know how to pick a lock!"
Still, it was loads better than the dumbing down they did for Deus Ex 2: Invisible War - pretty graphics and story etc, but IMO a big disappointment as gameplay is concerned.
Unfortunately all to true...
That and the horrible interface.
and the fact that you just couldn't get any of the factions te get angry with you.

If you want to try a real gem of realtime "strategy", check out darwinia (http://www.darwinia.co.uk/)
